One of the first things I was tasked with ‘cooking’ was chocolate pudding from a box. I don’t know how old I was – I just remember feeling really put out at how much stirring was involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eventually I graduated to making pudding from scratch – and wondering why my younger self thought a few minutes of stirring was such a big deal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chocolate Pudding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1\/2 c sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2 T cornstarch<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1\/3 c cocoa powder<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1\/8 t salt<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2 c milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2 egg yolks<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2 t vanilla<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mix sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder and salt in a medium saucepan. Beat egg yolks and combine with the milk. Gradually stir the milk and egg yolk mixture into dry ingredients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils. Boil for one minute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
